Auction at Trinity Southern Baptist Church

Trinity Southern Baptist Church is having an auction to help raise money for our Kingdom Fund. We have lots of items left over from an inside yard sale the church had a few weeks ago. The fund is going to be used to help build a family life center. We will have bigger Sunday School rooms and kitchen, and a basketball court, etc. The above photo is a flyer I made for my class. We are also auctioning off theme baskets from each Sunday School class. Watch The Falmouth Outlook for more details. Trinity is located at 309 East Shelby Street (corner of Shelby and Broad) in Falmouth.

Out of state visitor

My cousin Mona is in from Alabama. She is my cousin on Mom's side. We haven't been able to see Mona for a long time. She lost her son Brandon over a year ago. So Mother's Day was a little tough for her this year, not having him and being out of state and not being with her other kids. But we've been thankful to have her here with us. I grew up with Mona but as a teenager, she and Aunt Ruthie and Uncle Troy moved away.

Buford and Fern Poe doing Children's Church.
The children love this time during church!

These two are so good with kids.

Mother-Daughter Banquet

The above table was done by Sandy Barker.
Earth tones by Linda Harney.

My very dear friends.

Mine and Holly's table.

Amy Barnes' table.

This was the first year I was asked to decorate a table for the mother-daughter banquet. At first I was a little apprehensive, but then I was excited. I love doing this kind of stuff! Holly and I used blue candles, plastic tablecloths (which simulated the water) and tableware, tiny plastic toys, glass beads (rocks or whatever you call those things), seashells, starfish candy dish filled with "Lifesaver" mints, a treasure chest and more. Unfortunately, Holly couldn't come because she had to go to a girls night out with the Girl Scouts in Wilder. At least my friends were gracious enough to sit with me at my table. lol. More pictures can be found on my web page at myspace.

Children In Action

I made this board for Children's Missions Day in February. It shows some of the things we've done in my Children In Action missions group I teach on Wednesday nights. We are very busy working for Jesus! The second picture shows all the badges they've earned so far. We will be having an end of the year awards ceremony in July.

Dear friends and family,
Please be in prayer for my family. We have lost a dear loved one. She was my cousin and friend. Her name is Melissa Golden Beckett. She lost her husband, Johnny, a few months ago to lung cancer.

Evening of the Arts 2009

Kids just love face painting!
Dried beans are used in this piece shown above.
Not sure what this is but it's neat!
Aren't these interesting?
Fascinating!
Now that took some work!
Bright colors.
Amazing talent.
My daughter's art work.
Another shot of talent.
Our friend Chris Lyvers did a self portrait.
Here's another one by Chris.
Nice job someone did on this painting.
Fifth grade chorus concert. See if you can find Holly.
Close up of Holly's design.
I think she was getting tired here. This is Holly standing by her art. For 3 years in a row, her art has been displayed at the Evening of the Arts program held at Philip Sharp Middle School. Each year, student art work is showcased throughout the hallways, cafeteria, library, band room and gym. Art is not just painting or sculpting; music, dancing and acting are considered art as well.

Evening of the Arts

Holly is the one with white tennis shoes on beside the girl in sandals. This was her chorus concert at Evening of the Arts 2009 at the middle school. I am so proud of her, even though school activities wear me out. lol Oh and Lisa, she is going to play the flute in beginning band next year! Mmm hmm! 6th grade is coming soon!

Today was a good day. I was not in a shouting match with either of my kids today! There was a reason behind the major mood swings Miss Princess was having. Can you guess? lol Been working on the April Memo for our residents (I've done about 7 or 8 pages). Also, going to put together another Easter Egg Hunt for them, too. Now I'm about down for the count tonight. My eyes are drying out or is that from old age? lol

Complicated

Well I've worked on this here stuff for quite a bit now, and for some reason designing my blog is most difficult for me. Ah well, at least there is some change to it. I'm going to tarry off here for a bit and eat a snack with Joseph. All is quiet right now but earlier it was war on the home front again. Seems Miss Holly doesn't think she should be disciplined for her actions yesterday. Imagine that. We were having a screaming match with the windows and door open so everyone heard the explosions. Mm hmm, another day in the neighborhood. Will I survive? Will she?

Hair Dye at 11

Today I had the worst fight ever with my 11 year old. I feel awful about it. She wanted to dye her hair, just streaks of blond (wonder where in the world she would get that from, huh, Lisa? Seems years ago I remember 2 best friends using SUN IN!) Anyway, I told her I'd take her to the Family Dollar to see what they had. I was against doing anything but I remember Mom letting me use something on mine years ago. As long as it would wash out I was consenting. Well I guess I didn't shop soon enough for Miss Holly. She waited until I was at church and called her Dad behind my back. Yep. Sure did! And he took her. He should have said, no, wait and I will talk to your mom but that would mean he had some sense about him and well, he doesn't. I gave him an earful too. Boy do I have to repent tonight, I'm ashamed to say. I'm not sure I'm going to handle all this growing up stuff! lol P.S. Just to let ya'll know, I don't leave my 11 year old by herself, she was with her 13 year old brother. I went to church for a Beth Moore book study for an hour around the corner. I'm gonna have to fire Joe as a sitter and I'm divorcing my ex, AGAIN. lol

Taking a Break

Hi everybody! Sorry, it's been awhile I've been on. Been busy with church activities, throwing a Valentine party at my house for my mission kids, working on valentine crafts for the resthome and Now I'm onto a new activity for the church: a bulletin board for my Kids Club, Missions Kids, and Sunday School kids. I've decided to do the theme about the Lion and the Lamb for the month of March. Any thoughts on that would be appreciated! I've got my crafts chosen for it but still use other ideas. My son Joseph has been very sick for 2 days. I took him to urgent care today. He has strep throat really bad, bad fever, too. Now his butt is sore (lol) because of the shot. In our house it's against the rules to have frozen peas (NO PEAS OF ANY KIND) in our freezer or anywhere. So, to help with the soreness, I used 4 or 5 long popsicles that no likes and put them in a freezer bag and wrapped a hand towel around them and made him use that. He looked at me like I was crazy. lol. I said, well ya aint usin no peas and this way, we wont be wasting those old nasty tasting popsicles. lol Well that's all for now. Love you all! Please say a prayer for this family, that Joe gets better and that me and Holly don't get it.

Update on Jack

Jack is much better. He doesn't like to take his medicine but I give it to him anyway. I sure missed him. I haven't noticed any accidents, thank God. He sure is an expensive cat, but we love him! Still working on the background Lisa.

Trip to the vet

Our monster cat Jack had to be taken to the hospital today. He is staying overnight. A test was done on him and it showed he has a very bad bladder infection. I sure miss him. Me and Holly went to see him before the office closed earlier. They said he was trying to get a little mean with them but it was probably because they were pushing on his bladder to get it emptied. Anyway, when he saw me and Holly, he looked like he was thinking we were busting him out of there! lol. Poor thing. I hated leaving him there but he was having a hard time "going" and doing it in places other than the litter box so he's in the best place.

I am thankful to God for helping me get my car paid off today! I've been paying on it since this past April. The little old lady I bought it from was such a blessing to me and the kids, right when we needed a car, she let me buy it on payments. I prayed to God to let me get enough back on my taxes to pay the lady and just leave me and the kids a little left, just a little. And He answered my prayer! Thank you Jesus! I treated the kids to Lee's chicken. Later this evening, the kids and I played 2 games of SkipBo cards. They went to bed and now I'm trying to finish up some stuff on the pc. I took a sleep aid 4 hours ago and I'm still up! lol
Until next time,

Not so

Now there is no shame in saying a man is good looking. lol. I guess we shouldn't be lustful about it, huh?

A hot fireman

I tell ya, I've seen some nice looking things before, but I gotta say, the chief has always looked pretty hot to me! Aint that right sister? lol. I'm waiting on my tv dinner to get done. Since I'm too skeered to go into the local Chinese restaurant, I have to resort to frozen Chinese dinners! Now THAT's a story to tell and tell it I will, soon, but right now, I smell the rice!!!!!!! Grape Ape is signing off now!

Sunday Morning, January 18

The old devil knew I had less than 2 hours of sleep last night, so he was trying his best to keep me in bed this morning. In fact, I was laying back down when my 13 year old said, we gotta go, it's popcorn day! So we all got ready and went to church. I'm glad I did. The Lord needed my help when I got there. My 11 year old's teacher wasn't able to come so I got to teach her class and my own class. We did not attend tonight. I've laid around this afternoon and rested. Amazingly, the kids have been pretty well behaved today! I'm waiting to see if my Aunt and Uncle liked the pot of beans I gave them. I haven't heard from them yet. lol. I believe I will watch a little tv for now. Until next time, April.
